You make my pants wanna get up and dance

And other references you may or may not understand

jakefogelnest:

I was recently fired as the Executive Producer of the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Needless to say, this was a crushing disappointment.
In an e-mail to my manager, here’s how Nickeloden explained my dismissal:

“Fogelnest has shown a complete lack of understanding of what today’s youth are interested in. We just don’t know what to make of the direction this is going. Also, we didn’t appreciate him screaming at us for over an hour because we’d never seen the film Phantom Of The Paradise.”

Look, I understand that sometimes there are “creative difference,” but to say I have “a complete lack of understanding of what today’s youth are interested in” is just PATENTLY UNTRUE.
Since my vision for the Kids Choice Awards will probably never be realized, I’ve decided to share with you some of the great ideas I put together while planning the show:
A lifetime achievement award to Paul Revere and the Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay.
An exclusive preview of New York Times writer Dave Itzkoff’s new book about the 1976 film, Network.
A 30-minute performance of some of Frank Zappa’s more challenging classical music.
Dick Cavett and Louis CK: In Conversation.
A medley of early Spencer Davis Group hits performed by The Black Keys featuring Steve Winwood.
A speech about famine in Africa from Bob Geldof.
Eric Bogosion reprising his character Barry Champlain from Talk Radio to discuss our current TMZ obsessed culture.
A reunion of The Fabulous Baker Boys.
Liza With A Z… 2012!
Taj Mahal performing “She Caught The Katy” with Dan Aykroyd on harmonica.
In Memoriam: Henry Gibson.
Thurston Moore presents an all-star tribute to the No New York completion featuring appearances by James Chance and Lydia Lunch.
Frampton Comes Alive… Again!
I know. Every kid in the WORLD would’ve wanted to see this show.
I urge you all to reach out to @NickelodeonTV on Twitter and tell them to reinstate @jakefogelnest as the Executive Producer of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2012.
